Things I love about Halloween....

Halloween, I love you so much.  I love your pumpkins, witches and all other slightly scary things.  You have always been my favorite holiday.  You are all about fun and not about presents.  You are all about dressing up and not about stressful shopping.  You are all about spooky and not about endless wrapping of gifts, making major meals,  and the worrying about making the holiday nice for everyone.  I mean who does not have a good time on Halloween?  And of course you are all about candy, not something I can have but my kids sure like it, even in small doses.

So here is to Halloween.  I have been decorated for a week.  Even though I am trying to reduce my decorations every year, I still have lots to make it festive.  Little B's costume is almost finished, just a few tweaks to the walker decorations and I am done.  The candy has been purchased, and not been opened yet!  And Little One will be ready to be dressed up for his school celebration and of course trick or treating in the evening.

Mr. 22 will officially be Mr. 23 on Halloween, another reason to celebrate which I am sure he will do in style.

My favorite Halloween decoration will be blogged about next week.  If you have been reading my blog for over a year I am sure you will know what it is.   Here is hoping it is feeling festive at your house!

Hi Meredith! My son 23.....will be 24 on Halloween!! I always told him he was a treat, not a trick :). Some people would say how awful it was to be born on Halloween. I never saw it as a problem. Enjoy!

I can't wait to see Little Buddy's 2016 costume.

No decorating here yet. The movers come on Wednesday and we'll be setting up a home in a teeny tiny apartment. But, there might be a few spooky things to put around the place.

Happy birthday to Mr. 23!

I love all your Halloweeny things! I used to laugh when I'd tell people I had more Halloween decor than I did Christmas. It is my favorite holiday but it's not the same since the kids moved out and the trick or treaters stopped coming. I have to amuse myself now by watching Hocus Pocus in the dark with a bucket of popcorn. I have a pile of costumes to work on for the ice skating team so that should keep me happy this year-that and the candy!

You are one of several friends who have told me that Halloween is their favorite holiday...and each time someone tells me that I am amazed and wonder why I want to run away from Halloween instead. Thanks for helping me understand some reasons why you appreciate it. My mom made me some of the neatest costumes when I was in elementary school and the candy treating part of the holiday was yummy and fun, but I think overall I just really hate to be scared...and have never found it fun even when I pretended to when it seemed important to fit in at spooky fun events. I just kind of keep a joy of fall theme going around me until Thanksgiving :) I hope you will love me anyway. I love you and think you are very brave, Meredith! xx

No decorations at home, since there are no kids in the house and I don't get any kids at the door. Work, on the other hand, is a really creepy place!
Can't wait to see the other decoratio!

I even brought some decorations to the beach for our trailer. I'll take some photos tomorrow.. it's supposed to be nice weather. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I used to decorate for Halloween, back when I had kids living here, but I didn't do anywhere near as good a job as you do!

I tend to go with pumpkins and leaves and candles for decor. I'm not much of a halloween celebrator. Your shoes and cat hat are nice though. Happy weekend! :-D

I love Halloween as well it makes me want to buy chocolates and watch halloween movies and decorate too. I put a few things up around my apartment so far. It is a lot of fun and really cute seeing all the children get so excited over their costumes and the candy.
hope you have a fun time getting ready for Halloween!

Halloween is not a big holiday like it is in America so we don't bother. It is the first year for 16 years that we haven't been in Florida at this time of year. Looking forward to seeing Little Buddy all dressed for the occasion.

I have a few decorations I guess I should get out. Yusef turned 21 on the 3rd. And Zack will be 18 on the 26th. Both big birthdays in the world of adulthood. Happy ALMOST Halloween and birthday to Mr. 23! Can't wait to see Z Man's costume. Have a good weekend.

I tend to just do the autumn things, pumpkins, leaves pine cones, etc. I'm like Gracie and just don't like being scared. My trip to see the girls was cancelled this weekend so just trying to stay in a positive mood is taking lots of work today. Thanks for sharing your fun decorations Meredith.
Blessings

Hallowe'en has its own special feel doesn't it. Suddenly it is dark and cold here and candles are perfect. The littlest boy has just asked if we can carve a pumpkin this year. I think we shall. I hope you have a lovely weekend Meredith. CJ xx

I'm glad you enjoy Halloween Meredith it's always more fun when you have a little one to prepare for. Halloween is more low key over here although it seems to be gaining momentum, looking forward to seeing Little Buddy all decked out in his costume. :) xx

I love to see everyone's halloween decorations, though I must admit that I don't decorate myself. Halloween was never celebrated here when I was a child, it's something which has caught on more recently over here.

Are those shoes wearable? They are awesome! Don't have our Halloween stuff out yet as it's been so rainy and windy here....this week I hope. Please take photos of LB for us; our neighborhood has very few kids anymore.

Happy Birthday to your Mr 23-to-be! Have a fun celebration.

You have given me a new perspective on Halloween and all the things to like about it because I don't celebrate Halloween. It hasn't been a traditional Australian ritual in the same way that it is in America even though it is an old pagan ritual from England.

After a generation of viewing American TV shows on Australian TVs, many people are emulating the American celebrations and the shops are loving it - another excuse to create reasons to buy stuff.

I wouldn't mind so much if people were mindful of the origins of Halloween and the symbolism etc. but I don't observe a lot of that from people locally. I guess I am very nonplussed about the empty commercialism. Maybe I am getting cynical in my old age.

Seasonally, it doesn't match up with our climate. Perhaps that is why it was never a major event during my childhood. It is very incongruous to me to expect to see autumn pumpkins in the middle of spring!

But I can see why children embrace it and the fun that can be had with costumery etc. I look forward to seeing your Little Buddy in his costume. What will you be wearing?

Have fun and Happy Halloween :-)
